I once was a guru-follower.

I would find some random guru on LinkedIn, comment a random word on his post, and get a random file in my inbox.

I would open the file, go through some mind-boggling content, and leave it as an opened tab (1000th tab in fact) in my browser window.

We’ve all been there.
Late-night scrolling, finding yet another “guru” promising to change your life.

What inspires us, you’d ask.

The fancy cars, the exotic vacations, and, of course, the “secrets” to success.
I was hooked.

For a while, I hung on to their every word.

But doing that, I learned a few lessons.

Following the gurus wasn’t getting me anywhere.

It wasn't going to get me the lifestyle they promised.

So, I stopped.

Here’s why — and why you might need to do the same.
